For the IPL 2024 match between RCB vs RR Eliminator, a reserve day has been set. What would happen, though, if the play could never materialize?
The Rajasthan Royals, led by Sanju Samson, will have to overcome an in-form Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Wednesday in a pivotal Indian Premier League (IPL) eliminator if they are to stop their losing streak. Before a run of four losses and a washout in the final match against KKR, the Royals appeared certain to finish first in the league. Sanju Samson’s team ended up third, behind Sunrisers Hyderabad.

However, RCB has remarkably battled its way back from the verge of elimination. The squad captained by Faf du Plessis went on a fantastic run and defeated the reigning champion Chennai Super Kings a few nights ago to secure a postseason berth, after losing seven of their opening eight games of the season.
Even though the Rajasthan Royals are coming off of four losses and a game that was rained out, RCB has won six straight games to send a message to their rivals that they will not be taken lightly in the playoffs. Could rain, however, ruin RCB’s incredible league run and keep them from making it to the Qualifier 2?
What happens if the RCB vs RR Eliminator gets washed Out?
“In the event of a weather delay, a match may be extended by up to 120 minutes, or two hours, according to Rule 13.7.3 of the IPL 2024 Match Playing Conditions. This regulation was enforced even during league-stage matches. Additionally, the Reserve Day option is available for the playoffs.”, which means that one extra day will be set aside for the elimination between RCB and RR.
“For the play-off matches, in addition to the aforementioned extra time, there may be reserve days designated for completing any unfinished play-off matches.”
This season’s playoff games, including the May 26 championship game, will all feature Reserve Days, in contrast to past IPL seasons.
It should be mentioned that the game will begin at the beginning of the reserve day.
However, if no play is feasible even after considering Reserve Day as a possibility and the organizers
neglect to even have a Super Over, then the team that placed higher would win in that scenario.
in the league stage will go through. Hence, it’s advantageous to the Rajasthan Royals if the eliminator gets washed out entirely.
