2024 Lok Sabha Election Result LIVE:Of the 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP won 62 in the 2019 election, with its ally the Apna Dal (Sonelal) picking up two more. The Samajwadi Party only managed five seats, and the Congress managed only two.
New Delhi:
Leading the opposition INDIA bloc’s push in Uttar Pradesh, a politically significant state that has the highest number of MPs in the Lok Sabha at eighty, is the Samajwadi Party.
The SP was ahead in 37 seats at 6 p.m. and had secured Mainpuri (wife of party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Dimple Yadav) for a total of 38 seats, marking its highest-ever result from a UP Lok Sabha election.
The United Progressive Alliance, led by the Congress, won with a vote total of 36 in 2004.
Additionally, Mr. Yadav has virtually assured himself of victory in the Kannuaj bastion; as of 6 p.m., he led the BJP’s Subrat Pathak by 1.7 lakh votes.
Meanwhile, the Apne Dal (Sonelal), the BJP’s ally, is leading in one seat and leading in 29 others.
Along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi and Kaiserganj’s Karan Bhushan Singh, the son of alleged sex assaulter Brij Bhushan Singh, the BJP has also won three seats.
The Samajwadi Party only managed five seats in the previous Lok Sabha election, in which the BJP won 62 of the state’s 80 seats and its ally the Apna Dal (Sonelal) won two more.
In the 2014 election, the party received just five seats, compared to 23 in the 2009 survey.
Meanwhile, Kishori Lal and Rahul Gandhi are leading the BSP’s Thakur Prasad and the BJP’s Smriti Irani in the Amethi and Raebareli strongholds, where the Congress is leading in five seats.
The Amethi result, which shows that the Congress is ahead by more than 1.6 lakh votes, will be very encouraging if it holds.
In addition to regaining the seat that former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi held in 1981 (after the byelection in which his mother and predecessor, Indira Gandhi, was
assassinated) to 1991 (when he was sadly assassinated as well), but it would also deal a crushing blow to the BJP and Union Minister Smriti Irani.
Rahul Gandhi, who chose to run in Raebareli instead of Amethi after his mother Sonia Gandhi moved to the Rajya Sabha, is 3.9 lakh votes ahead of Dinesh Pratap Singh of the BJP.
Samajwadi Party’s Outstanding Performance
If today’s results hold true, the SP would have defeated the Bharatiya Janata Party in Uttar Pradesh, something that neither the Congress nor the BSP was able to accomplish in the previous two national or state polls.
Still, this is by no means an unexpected outcome.
With 255 of the state’s 417 seats, the BJP, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emerged victorious in the 2022 Assembly election. The SP, which garnered 111 seats, was the closest opponent, nonetheless.
At that time, Mr. Yadav’s party had gained a whopping 64 seats more than it had five years prior. This was largely due to the farmers’ protests that upended the BJP’s “double-engine government.”
It appears that the wave of support continued into this election.
Results of the UP Lok Sabha Election: What the Exit Polls Told
In this election, UP has come out as the major surprise. According to an exit poll, the BJP is expected to maintain its dominant performance in the state, winning 68 seats alongside its NDA allies.
Only 12 seats were predicted to be won by the INDIA group. In actuality, India Today-Axis and Republic Bharat-Matrize According to My India, the alliance could only be able to secure six seats.
One, nevertheless, defied the general pattern of predictions.
The opposing party will assert a slim majority with 43 seats, according to TV5 Telugu.
In an effort to unseat Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his BJP, the Samajwadi Party is running as a member of the opposition INDIA group, which is led by the Congress and was established in June of last year.
There are 63 candidates from the SP and 17 from the Congress. Since it was the first seat-sharing agreement declared by members of the INDIA bloc, it garnered attention. Previous attempts at similar agreements had failed in other states, and negotiations between the Congress and the Trinamool in Bengal had broken down amicably.
2024 Lok Sabha Election: What Exit Polls Said
Two of the twelve exit surveyors are India Today-Axis The National Democratic Alliance, led by the Brahmin Party, is predicted to get up to 401 seats, according to My India and India TV-CNX. Three others, ABP News-C Voter, Jan Ki Baat, and News Nation, give Mr. Modi’s election-winning juggernaut a maximum of 383, 392, and 378 seats. A third, News24-Today’s Chanakya, predicts it will fall on the 400-seat mark.
In the contest for 272 seats, it seems unlikely that the BJP coalition will finish lower than 281.
The INDIA group, which is often regarded as a motley coalition of opposition parties, dismissed the forecasts with a chuckle and promised to accomplish its June 2018 goal of unseating the BJP and Prime Minister Modi.
Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, the head of the Congress, have asserted that the party will win 295 seats.
The available exit poll data is inconclusive, despite four giving the alliance more than 150 seats.
The INDIA group is predicted to win 166, 152, and 154 seats by TV9 Bharatvarsh-Polstrat, Times Now-ETG, and Republic TV-P Marq; hauls between 152 and 182 are predicted by News Nation and ABP News-C Voter.
Chanakya of News 24-Today and India News-D Dynamics are much less optimistic, forecasting only 125 and 107 seats, respectively, while the rest think INDIA would receive between 109 and 166 seats.
